2021.12.02 19:38 theradio_star f17 just ordered twenty dollars worth of doordash and i don't regret it at all [friendship] [relationship]

i ordered donuts in case anybody is curious :) the reason why half a dozen donuts came out to be twenty dollars is because i also ordered a six dollar smoothie. i am incredibly responsible with my money as you might have already guessed. i'm never really sure where to start writing these kinds of posts lol. i'm more of an introvert so most of my spare time is spent at home with my dogs. i like to play animal crossing and mario games a lot. lately i've been thinking of getting more in to the zelda series. it's always interested me but i've just never really gotten around to committing to the series i guess. i also like to listen to music and i draw occasionally. i have a pc and quite a few multiplayer games, so we could totally game together sometime if we click! i'm looking for actual genuine connections on this sub so please only message me if you have the intention of committing to an actual friendship lol. i won't respond to low effort one word dms, thirsty dms, or to anybody who's older than 21. please have discord and please be available to vc too!!

2021.12.02 19:38 UltimateCriterion How are Undergraduate Dean's Medals Awarded?

It says that Undergraduate Dean's Medals are "Awarded to graduating students whose grades place them in the top five per cent of their class" yet there is only one medal awarded to each faculty? Is a person randomly selected if they are in the top 5% of their class?

2021.12.02 19:38 Quaysan Should anyone have to deal with rude customers?

I work in customer support, so you already know where this is going. Recently, a coworker of mine expressed dismay at having to deal with live customers due to their anxiety. Apparently they came to this job explicitly so they wouldn't have to talk to people live and I completely understand where they are coming from.
It's easy enough if they only want information on how to access certain things or if they just need something switched around on their account, but it can definitely get stressful if you aren't able to help or if customers are just rude. This coworker brought this up to one of the training managers and was, in my opinion, brushed off.
Basically we got the spiel of "things are rough in other countries, we just gotta find a way to deal with it, I know you'll figure something out." But this makes no sense to me. Getting berated by customers isn't in the job description, feeling stressed does happen but it's not a job requirement. So why does it feel like this job doesn't adequately handle resources so that rude customers who are uncooperative get to take out their anger on support staff? Other coworkers tried to help by offering advice and wisdom, but I was honestly so turned off by the lack of solutions that the company has in general.
Here are just a few of the things said...

It seems to me that, while customers do need to vent about their experience because sometimes life is rough, it shouldn't be up to customer support to be their verbal punching bag.
Instead of hiring automated customer support to help fix their problems, it seems like automated customer support should be about appeasing some people's need to yell and scream and talk down to someone just trying to do their job and who will likely lose their job if they give you the wrong information.
At the very least they should hire a different training manager who might actually suggest something helpful like training so they could move to a different department that doesn't deal with other customers. There are plenty of things I dislike about this company, but the way they just generally don't listen to actual complaints raises my blood pressure.

tl;dr people with anxiety shouldn't have to deal with shitty customers just because managers think we're more expendable

2021.12.02 19:38 miahsdead Tomorrow my dad would have been 62.

I miss you. I miss your big belly laughs, the way you’d enter a room and loudly say “what’s goin’ on round here?” I miss listening to late 90s/early 2000s with you and all the cheesy songs about daughters that you’d send me.
I wish I had known the pain you had felt. I wish I could have taken that pain from you and hid it in a box far, far, away from this universe. I wish I had done more with you and not taken our time together for granted. I wish, I wish, I wish.
I wish I had known the pain you had felt. Then maybe you’d still be here and not in the clouds.
Tomorrow you’d be 62. After 15 years I still miss you every day.

2021.12.02 19:38 Cogmaker Children's dark fantasy story where a crocodile eats all the darkness in the world

I remember reading a story in a book of children's fantasy, I think the book was published in the 90's but the stories seemed older.
It was a story about a King who wants to cross a river and gambles with a giant crocodile, saying if the king wins the crocodile will help him cross the river and if he loses the crocodile will eat all the darkness. The crocodile wins and the people in the kingdom are upset so the princess on her black horse with golden horseshoes set out to go to the end of the world to find darkness. The crocodile eats the horse but the princess takes the golden horse shoes and uses them on her journey at various points. She finds a tiny darkness tree at the end of the world and takes it back where it is planted and eventually becomes darkness.
My Nana gave me the book but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the story and I always really, really liked it. Can anybody remember the name of this story or the book it was from. The book it was in was a blue hard back but I think was smaller than a normal book. I remember it also had black ink illustrations throughout it.

2021.12.02 19:38 SubstantialHighway51 Card do's and dont's

Seen a lot of folks telling people you can't use the card for utilities and other things. Am I misreading cause I see you can't use card for cash advances, payments to lending institutions and gambling sites. That's it. All the other merchants listed as I am reading it can be paid as long as they accept visa and do not require a credit card like some hotels and some subscriptions. The merchants list shows which merchants transactions do not qualify for rewards or are they also prohibited cause I don't see where it says prohibited just no rewards. Cust service pretty busy so I came to old faithful Reddick.

Otras sugerencias?
Mil gracias!
